concept For each teaching series, this church develops a metaphor. I am often asked to participate in this process (the benefit of working with this pastor since 1997). Some of their suggested metaphors were the arms-in-the-air worship or triumph pose, an empty leash, a wild horse, a skydiver, an explosion. I suggested an accorn/seed metaphor because it represented "potential" in addition to "unleashing." It also acknowledged that reaching your potential is a journey that may take years, and requires certain elements. The acorn metaphor provided multiple opportunities for illustration when making these assertions. It also would connect residents of this suburban area.
